Linda and Richard Gibbs are the stewards of the land that holds both Woodshed Recording Studio and Woodshed Gardens: a space where creativity, ecology, and restoration live in harmony.

Richard Gibbs, a composer and music producer, founded Woodshed Recording Studio in 2005 as a world-class creative retreat nestled in the hills of Malibu. Designed in collaboration with architect Akai Yang, Woodshed Recording Studio was conceived as a space that seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology with the natural beauty of its surroundings. Over the years, it has hosted a diverse array of artists, including Coldplay, U2, Barbra Streisand, and Lady Gaga.

Linda Gibbs has spent over two decades cultivating the surrounding land through biodynamic gardening, native habitat restoration, and regenerative practices. Her work began as a personal devotion to the land, evolving slowly and intuitively into a resilient landscape that thrived even under challenging conditions.

When the Woolsey Fire swept through in 2018. destroying their home but sparing the studio and much of the garden, their shared relationship with the land deepened. In the wake of that devastation, Linda launched a full-scale fire resilience and ecological restoration project. Over time, her efforts coalesced into what is now Woodshed Gardens: a living classroom and restoration site for land-based learning, regenerative gardening, and community education.

Together, Linda and Richard have created a space where music and ecology intertwine, offering inspiration and learning for artists, students, and visitors alike.
