Apprenticeship
The Earth Steward Apprenticeship is an eight-month, hands-on program in regenerative gardening and sacred stewardship.
Through monthly gatherings at Woodshed Gardens, students learn to restore healthy soil, cultivate resilient gardens and participate in a community of connection and care.
Blending ecological science, traditional land-based practices, and experiential learning, the apprenticeship offers a practical foundation in regenerative gardening while cultivating relationships and practices that allow life to flourish.
Our Philosophy
Life possesses an inherent capacity to grow, adapt, exchange, and renew. Regenerative gardening works with this living intelligence.
A garden is a community of relationships among soil, water, roots, fungi, plants, insects, animals, climate, and human care. Regenerative practice tends the conditions in which these relationships can thrive.
This begins with observation. We learn the history, rhythms, and needs of a place. We protect living soil, support natural cycles, and participate with care in the processes already at work.
At the heart of the apprenticeship is the art of tending.
Stewardship is a relationship of care formed through attention, responsibility, reciprocity, and sustained practice. It asks us to listen before acting, protect what is vulnerable, nourish what is becoming, and make room for life to unfold in its own time.
Through tending the garden, participants also explore how the principles of regeneration can illuminate the ways we care for ourselves, our relationships, and our communities.
The garden changes through our tending, and the practice of tending changes us.

Across eight monthly gatherings, participants explore the foundational principles of regenerative gardening:

Each principle is encountered through ecological teaching, direct observation, practical garden work, and reflective practice. Classes build upon one another, allowing participants to witness how a living garden develops over time.
Class Structure
Each gathering follows a simple rhythm of observing, tending, and reflecting.
We begin together with an opening circle and guided meditation, followed by ecological teaching centered on the month's regenerative principle.
From there, we enter the garden for direct observation and hands-on practice
We learn from the soil, plants, seasons, and the living relationships unfolding around us.
Each gathering closes with reflection, integration, and a practice to carry home.
Over eight months, these experiences accumulate into both practical gardening knowledge and a deeper understanding of stewardship as a lived practice of care.
The Earth Steward Apprenticeship is a heart offering born from our friendship, our shared love of the Earth, and the many seasons we have spent tending land, spirit, and community.
Drawing from regenerative gardening, ecological education, contemplative practice, and land-based traditions, we invite you to learn with us through the garden itself.
Together, we gather in reverence of nature, cultivating the knowledge, practices, and connections that sustain a life of sacred stewardship.
